I’ll be the first one to admit that I struggle with control. Without even realizing it, I have a horrible tendency to be controlling. This has been a long struggle for me. Going through some really tough times, God showed me that I really had a problem with trying to control everything. Yes, we have tasks and responsibilities to manage, but God is the one in control. And thank God He is in control, because He is the only one that can handle it. When we let our grip go on what we are trying so hard to control, God steps in and is there for us. We aren’t really in control, but God wants us to recognize that ourselves and willingly and gratefully seek Him. Not because we have to, but because we want to. With God at the controls of our life, our life will be much more fulfilling than we could ever hope or imagine. So, if you’re like me and really struggle in this area, don’t be as stubborn as I, but run to God, seek Him. Our so called plans could never even come close to His plans for us. Never doubt it.

That answer is going to be different depending on who you ask. We aren’t the same and often, our worries are different as well. Before we go on a trip, my husband will go through the house and property, making sure everything is locked up, cameras on, safety measures in place etc.

He is being a good husband and is doing what he feels directed to do. It’s when we take those thoughts, put them up on a pedestal and focus on them, instead of God, that we turn those thoughts into worries.

I tend to struggle with health anxiety. It is good to go for your checkups and get things checked out. It’s when I take those thoughts and put the focus on them instead of God that they can turn from something good to a worry that will fester. It is vital to consistently take our thoughts to God. Let Him check them out. Don’t be quick to do all the talking, but stop, be still, and ask God to speak to you, to guide you.

Wait and Listen.

When you’re hurting, it’s easy to focus on your own pain, your own fears, and anxieties. But do you really think you’re the only one? You’re not alone! We often wear masks for those around us. Even for those we are closest to, we try to put up a wall, a brave face, to pretend that everything is okay. I have the habit of saying “everything will be okay”. It’s something I often say to give myself or someone else comfort. I know ultimately, if you’re a Christian, everything will be okay. But sometimes, we just aren’t doing okay and that is okay too. God feels our pain. We will have pain on this earth, both physically and emotionally, and probably everything in between. When we get to heaven, we won’t have any worries and what a wonderful place to be. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have joys and happiness while here on earth. We each have a job to do here, and God wants you to have a fulfilling life. But don’t ever think you’re the only one going through what you’re through, and your experiences could help someone going through the same thing. If we open up, let down some of our defenses, we could not only be helping ourselves, but maybe those around us as well. Don’t be afraid to swallow your pride and open up your heart.

“Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, When it is in the power of thy hand to do it.”
