Who Do We Listen to?

Do you sometimes feel like there are two voices telling you what to do? The proverbial angel and devil on your shoulder?

While that might just be a cliche, there is truth in that whom we choose to listen to can influence our outcome. Do we listen to the lies of Satan, who sometimes can be very convincing? Remember, he even tried to use scripture in the desert when he was trying to tempt Jesus.

Or do we listen to the still voice of Jesus?  If Satan can use scripture, then how do we know?

I believe this is a constant battle that we are fighting. It is vital we are constantly praying and reading and listening to the Word to find the answers to these questions.  Remember, Jesus also used scripture back to Satan in the desert, when Jesus said, “Man cannot live on bread alone.”

After several more attempts, the Devil left Him. Life can be overwhelming, we need help. Help from our trusted mentors, family, and friends. But most importantly help from our Savior. Ask Him for help, He is there listening.

“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he afterward hungered. And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

Matthew 4:1
