Gossip

If you ever played telephone when you were a kid, then you know how a story can become something completely different from reality. Don’t get sucked into water cooler gossip, including who did what and who said what, even if it’s about you. Just like Mom said, “If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Something strange happens when a group of grown adults gets together and can take a simple comment and make it the next great soap opera. Make it clear to your employees that you will not tolerate gossip. The latest gossip of the day will just have to wait. And set the example by avoiding it yourself. It will help create a harmonious workplace and avoid a lot of school room drama.

A perverse man scattereth abroad strife; And a whisperer separateth chief friends.

Proverbs 16:28
